Piet Mondrian, the Dutch artist famous with his cubism style, once made such statement as “Curves are so emotional”. Apparently Mondrian’s view inspired artists Dadan Setiawan and Nadia Savitri and their works consisting of paintings, objects, ceramics, and mixed media. Kendra Gallery will be showing their works in an exhibition titled “Unnatural Selection”.
The works about to be exhibited responded to Mondrian’s view. The works are the artists’ interpretation of the city and urban environment. Mondrian, a naturalist turn modernist encouraged the point a view that highlighted the balance between nature’s organic characteristic connects with the constructive and artificial man-made environment.
